Former Arsenal forward Andrei Arshavin has stated that the London club is too conservative, and this is what is preventing the club from going forward.

He said that the team had a great chance to win the title last season, but unfortunately they did not do it.

The former Russian international joined Arsenal in 2009 but has failed to make a big contribution to the Arsenal team. He joined the club having a reputation of being a world-class player but unfortunately he could not replicate this form in England.

He said that there need to be big chances at the club if they want to progress. He stated that the team bought only two world class players in Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez but other than that there has not been a great deal happening at the club. For Arshavin, this is the main reason why the club is failing to compete in the Premier League, and if they are not careful, they may end up falling behind their other rivals.

For him, one of the biggest problems at Arsenal is Arsene Wenger. Although he admits that he is a good manager, he believes that he is spent too much time at Arsenal and that changes are needed. He said that sometimes you need new ideas and new opinions in a team and at the moment the club is too conservative. For the former Arsenal forward, the London team is stuck in the past and that there should be changes if the team is going to challenge for the title again.

Although he failed to make an impact at Arsenal, Arshavin said that he enjoyed life in London. He stated that he has experienced some good times with Arsenal and that he will be cherishing the memories all his life.
