"Initially, it's a difficult situation for me. When you buy new players for a lot of money, they have an advantage because they will play. But we've got a long season ahead of us and we'll see what happens. When I am in top shape, I am a perfect fit for the Arsenal team and I see myself in the first XI. That's what I work towards. I am not sure but I hope that that's the case." Arsenal’s Lukas Podolski said after Danny Welbeck completed his move to Arsenal a few weeks ago.

Lukas Podolski will have to compete against the likes of: Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez and Yaya Sanogo in order to have a spot in the starting lineup of Arsene Wenger. Theo Walcott is expected to be arriving within the next few weeks into the team as well as he is completing the final stages of his recovery from the injury he sustained earlier in January.

The 29 year old German attacker has a huge mountain to climb if he wants to have a secured position in the main team of Arsenal but even with all of his efforts it’s starting to look hopeless for Podolski as he just isn’t the same player of some years ago that scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists during his debut season at the Emirates Stadium.

Even though this new season of the Premier League has only just started there already are rumors which are linking Lukas Podolski with a return to his former club FC Koln in Germany as his future with Arsenal is appearing to be further and further away from Arsenal.
