Former Liverpool midfielder-turned-pundit Jamie Redknapp believes Alexis Sanchez has dropped off with his displays over the past couple of games. The Chile international has netted thrice in the last two Premier League appearances, but all of his goals have come in small periods of excellence.
Speaking prior to the West Brom game, Redknapp feels there has been a difference in the Chilean's mentality in recent games, where he has looked out of sorts, he told Sky Sports: "I have noticed a difference in him in the past two games. There was a spell when if you were his team-mate, you’d be disappointed with his workrate. What we love since he has come into this league has been that and his perpetual motion. There has been a drop off."
Sanchez's current deal with the Gunners concludes at the end of the current campaign, and this has intensified talk of him pursuing a fresh challenge in January. Gunner boss Arsene Wenger has maintained his not-for-sale on Sanchez over the past few months, but it is suggested that an offer of around £40m could urge the Frenchman to do business.
No immediate replacement has been identified as of yet, but there has been the annual link with Paris Saint-Germain's Julian Draxler, who has struggled for regular gametime at Parc des Princes. The German has played second fiddle to the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe in the starting lineup, and there is every possibility that he could command a regular role.
AS Monaco's Thomas Lemar who was heavily tipped to join in the summer, but the Gunners appear to have stalled their interest with the Frenchman struggling to replicate the form from the previous campaign. The former Caen turned down a deadline day move to the Emirates last summer after he was convinced to stay by the Principality outfit.
