Russian side Spartak Moscow reportedly want out-of-favour Manchester United winger Memphis Depay.
Sport Express reports that the club is willing to get the player on a loan deal before deciding on a permanent deal.
Everton is the leading side focused on getting Depay, but they would have to battle the Russians for the Netherlands international. Spartak already have Quincy Promes and they would be hoping the Holland international would be able to convince his close pal to join him. Both players holidayed in Los Angeles during the summer.
However, Promes himself could be on his way out of Russia as Liverpool are reported to be considering luring the player in a £25 million raid.
Liverpool’s must have scouted the player enough and the move to go as far as Russia is not surprising. Arsenal signed former Russian international Andrei Arshavin for a record fee, and the player delivered for a while before he veered off. While Promes is not Russian, the 24-year old seems to have settled in well in the Far East. He played most of his youth football in Netherlands with Ajax, HFC Haarlem, and FC Twente before the move. He already has five Premier Liga goals in 12 games, drawing interests from several quarters.
On the other hand, Memphis has struggled with settling since his move to Old Trafford. In his debut season from PSV for £25 million in 2015, he scored just seven goals. So far, he has been completely ignored by current manager Jose Mourinho.
“I would like to have him. I think he is an interesting player. He has great individual qualities. He just needs to play games,” Ronald Koeman said, declaring his interest in signing Depay publicly. It is believed that Mourinho would allow the deal go through if either side want to buy him but at the right price.
